Oprah Winfrey was born Kosciusko, Mississippi on a farm. This is where she began her broadcasting career by learning to read aloud and perform recitations at the age of three. At age six she moved to Milwaukee and lived with her mother till the age of 13. Oprah's broadcasting career started age 17, when she was hired by WVOL radio in Nashville.
