Piggy is killed and Samneric are forced to join with Jack, leaving Ralph all alone and the outsider on the island, being the only one, bar the littlun's (who don't get involved with the activities of the bigun's), who has not joined Jacks tribe. Unlike Piggy and Simon, Ralph doesn't die; this is because he is the 'hero' of the story and represents good and civilisation.
