Three-strikes law mandates doubling sentences for a second felony conviction and imposing life in prison for a third conviction. Many would think that the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment would over rule this law, but it was not in violation. Everyday there are criminals that come in and come out that have not been rehabilitated through incarceration. Ultimately it is up to the state to come up with ways in providing security, but maybe there is another way rather than the three strikes law, that will make everyone content and most of all effective.
