P.T. Barnum is known as the world's greatest showman. He was born on July 5, 1810 in Bethel, a small town on the outskirts of Danbury, Connecticut. P.T. Barnum's parents were Philo Barnum and Irena Taylor.

Barnum and Bailey's Circus's winter quarters in Bridgeport.
<Tab/>James A. Bailey and James Hutchinson decided to do a full size bronze statue of Barnum. The statue was completed in 1886 at Bridgeport's Seaside Park, the park Barnum had created in his early years. The statue was sculptured by Thomas Ball.
<Tab/>In 1890, Barnum suffered a stroke. He died on April 6, 1891 a little after 6:30 evening, at 81 years old.
