By writing this book, Sinclair definitely opened everyone's eyes to the possibility of the U.S. turning into a dictatorship and of how easily a desperate country could be shaped into what one powerful person envisioned. Hopefully this idea stays in our mind forever and nothing like this shall ever happen to the actual U.S.
