The beginning of the 1780's starts off the decade on the right foot. The surrender at Yorktown ends the war with Great Britain, the Bank of North America is established, the treaty of Paris finalizes the peace with United states and Great Britain, and on March 1, 1781 Maryland ratifies the Articles of Confederation which establishes the first formal government of the United States. But, did the Articles actually help the U.S. run an effective government?

the conservatives wanted all along.
After six years of disunity and an ineffective central government, conservatives called for change and finally convinced Americans the need for a more centralized form of government. The Articles of confederation were without doubt ineffective. But they were positively necessary in laying the foundation for the construction of the constitution. The articles demonstrated the basic ideas of democracy, and the constitution was used for the expansion and enforcing those ideas.
