June 2nd 1916: My name is John Miller, I am twenty years old, and I am stationed at the No.3 Naval Squadron aerodrome in Fernes, France. I enlisted my services just two months ago, and now I find myself in a squadron led by the great British ace Raymond Collishaw! The airfield is large, housing many different kinds of aircraft, from the Sopwith Camel to the Nieuport.

but he felt we deserved it. That night I took a little walk around the airfield recalling the days events. The airfield housed three squadrons, two bombing units and one fighter unit. There were three dorms, each with a separate room for the leader of the squadron. There were also two mess halls and five large tents where the mechanics lived. I had come face to face with death and lived to tell about it.
