In my opinion the knowledge of the atom has had an overall benefit to life on earth because it has lead us to make great advances in technology which has made our way of living much more easier and more reliable. However I think in the future applications of nuclear science should be based more on trying to cure diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Arthritis and any other incurable diseases.
