The Nineteenth Amendment was a great victory for women, which had been in the works for decades before its ratification. This amendment says that, "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." Moreover, women have become great politicians and lawyers, something that was previously deemed as an unsuitable occupation for them. This amendment was a giant stepping-stone toward the emergence of women in politics, society, and the economy. The only regret our nation should have is the unnecessary time of waiting before all citizens were given the freedom they deserve.
