Gandhi is considered one of the greatest men of the 20th century. To the people of India, he is thought to be the father of their nation. terrible riots between Muslims and Hindus. Children were being killed and Gandhi was upset to see his countrymen fighting amongst themselves. He started another fast, at the age of 78. His purpose was to end the bloodshed. Five days later, the leaders agreed to stop fighting and Gandhi broke his fast.
A few days later, on his way to a prayer meeting in New Delhi, Gandhi was assassinated. His death was mourned by the entire world.
