she comes into a room. Throughout the poem, she tries to explain that it's in her hips, her step, her lips, her eyes, teeth, waist and feet. She says it's in her smile, her breasts, her style but the men still can't see so they just listen very quietly and that way Maya doesn't have to "shout or jump about or have to talk real loud" Because she's a phenomenal women as all women are.
