A mistake can be a wrong deed, a misconception, a flawed theory, or even an inappropriate action or thought. Through the course of doing things, people make mistakes due to their inexperience, which includes lack of skill and knowledge. More often than not, man become wiser and more capable by learning from these mistakes, whether they are made by others or themselves.

This is why mankind has improved so much after thousands of years--by learning from the past mistakes and not repeating them. While others might argue that most people learn from books containing facts, it must be noted that these facts are actually learnt from past mistakes made by our ancestors. The only other path linking inexperience to wisdom, which is unusual, is luck. It allows man to hit the truth without facing any failures first.
