In closing affairs, material possessions, and carelessness can all be derived from ones wealth. These atheist actions of the characters in the novel prove that wealth and higher social status evade people of moral values. It is the economic stature and social hiarchy that eludes the characters of the novel from the consequences of his or her actions and hides them from the true moral values.
