This and along with capitalism seeping through into the east from Europe, was the reason students and other people started protesting to get a say in the government.

People can make a difference in the way their life is going. The students made a prime example of that. The students new what they wanted and the pros and cons to it. Then they took steps to obtaining it. It shows how important it is to get involved with ones government and political policies. It is a long, important process to reach a state of democracy.
