grow old gracefully and have the understanding to be able to achieve this where as Nagel thinks nothing matters and too much effort is being put forth in day to day life because everyone is going to die anyway.
This is true everyone is going to die any way but if people did no put some type of importance or purpose in life to give their life meaning, life would be terribly long and miserable.
