This decision destroyed the legality for segregation gained in Plessy, and although the implementation of Brown's rulings have been criticized for their lack of speed, it greatly expanded the concepts of illegal race-based discrimination and started the Civil Rights Movement in motion. Now, all that had to be accomplished, was desegregation nationwide.
