There are many, many programming languages utilized throughout Hewlett Packard, but there are a handful of 'key' programming languages that are used as a default unless technology and business needs point to another, more specific, solution. While this may make sense for the stockholders overall, there are surely specific business exceptions that would make the limitations of the high-level business strategy a negative for using a Microsoft-based programming language. But the preservation of ubiquity and programming language platform consistency probably makes following the selection criteria the right decision.
