The article in which this report is based on is entitled Decision Making in Altered States: Effects of Alcohol on Attitudes Toward Drinking and Driving. The results of this study were based on three separate investigations, one lab experiment and two field studies. Though alcohol myopia is an important factor in determining why intoxicated participants are more likely to drive while under the influence, the textbook does not touch upon two other possibilities mentioned in the study: underestimation and drunken invincibility. Overall, however, the editors of the textbook are successful in their representation of the article because the reading conveys the results of the study clearly and concisely.
