Man certainly didn't need to develop theories or philosophies to know that some people looked different, and those differences were passed on almost unfailingly to children. It would be nice if we would fix the problems with the concept of race by declaring its non-existence, but it will do no more good than me proclaiming "the truth is that there are no final exams."
