Since the 1960s, the number of completed suicides has risen at an alarming rate. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among youth aged 15-24. It is the 8th leading cause of death among women. Suicide is also high among the elderly. Suicide is a rather taboo subject because anybody can be vulnerable. Can you safely say that you will NEVER contemplate or attempt suicide? I walked through the hallways I saw nothing but mascara runs on girls faces from the tears. I looked at all the boys and they all had a look of despair. Suicide is like an earthquake, it shakes up the worlds of the people who were close to the individual. That is why I believe that a program should be in place to be preventing this from happening. That is the sole purpose of STAE.
