The seed among several other symbols represent the motifs that run through millers play. Willy's dreams have gone sour and flaccid and so has the representation of the symbols. The shadow of capitalism and materialism that cast Willy's life from reaching the sunlight was the reason for his inability to face the present and escape his illusions. Willy's death consequently becomes inevitable and so was his downfall and both are continuously raised in his life.
