This film, which was directed by Pontercorvo, is exceptional not only in content but in camera work. The viewer can not but help being drawn into a world which seems so realistic as to include black and white footage, newsreel like scenes, not to mention shooting of film in the actual location in which this battle took place. The relative objectivity portrayed by pontercorvo in this film is in inteself startling and adds to the eminence of such a great piece of work which shows to the best possible extent what happened in the battle of Algiers.
