Life during the Great Depression was a living hell. Those individuals hardest hit by the economic uproar were the farmers. The lengths to which the American people were pushed to in order to survive were unnatural and gruesome, even for a third-world country. They would be forever looking over their shoulders for another terrible economic downturn to come, unable to really enjoy the good times. However, because of all the safeguards put in place as a result of the depression, such as the FDIC, Social Security, and America's ability to learn from it's mistakes, I do not think the United States will ever have another "Great" depression.
