They would be forever looking over their shoulders for another terrible economic downturn to come, unable to really enjoy the good times. However, because of all the safeguards put in place as a result of the depression, such as the FDIC, Social Security, and America's ability to learn from it's mistakes, I do not think the United States will ever have another "Great" depression.
