In order to counter this, the United States must make a commitment to pursue nuclear weapons reductions multilaterally with other states and denounce the use of nuclear weapons. This kind of attitude emanating from the United States would allow for an atmosphere in which greater steps can be taken on an international level to reduce nuclear weapons and attain their prohibition.
