The Hierarchy of the church can loosely described in a pyramid fashion. At the top is the Pope who is considered the closet man to God's will. At the bottom of the pyramid is the congregation. People who are lower on the pyramid are meant to be servants and obey those above. Conversely, the hierarchy is meant to serve the religious congregation that makes up the lowest level. and people run it it will be corrupt. Also, with a human leading it it will make errors in judgement and will hurt others to protect itself. Yet in spite of that, without it Jesus' message would have been twisted. Nothing could ever get done because nobody would be responsible for the costly expenditures the church currently has. It keeps some churches alive, missions to poor and sick, does missionary work all over the world.
