The play does seem to set out to make fun of love and lovers, that is what it appears to me to be doing, therefore I agree with the statement. However, I do not believe that Shakespeare actually intended to ridicule love, as there isn't much point in doing this just for the sake of comedy, instead love is portrayed as a strong and powerful force throughout the play.
