The Search for a Perfect Marriage
Marriage is a sacred bond between two people who love and care about each other deeply. It's a bond that is not made to be broken, but to be carried on forever. This wasn't the case in Their Eyes Were Watching God. Janie's search for her true love was a hard, tedious journey. In the 1920's most couples were married and stayed together for the rest of their lives.

two marriages Janie has many obstacles, which include finding her true identity because her husbands won't allow her to. In her last marriage she is free to become her own woman in the real world. These symbols allow Janie to go through obstacles in order to find a great relationship, and in the end she does. Her true love became ill and died in reality, but in her fantasy world the love will live on.
