Catatonic Schizophrenia
Catatonic schizophrenia is perhaps the most interesting form of schizophrenia. It is dominated by physical symptoms. Sufferers are often immobile and unresponsive. They maintain a rigid position, often for hours. Their catatonic stupor marks a decrease in reactivity to the world and in spontaneous activity. In some cases of catatonic schizophrenia, sufferers have excessive motor activity that is not influenced by external stimuli.
