About 5,000 live on reservations at Brantford, Ontario, and at the Bay of Quinte. They still farm, and many work in construction. Two settlements can be found in New York State. One in Franklin and one in Saint Lawrence County. According to the 1990 census, 15,490 people in the United States reported being of Mohawk descent.
